The conference will take place in the centre of Sint-Niklaas, a city located 30 minutes by train from Ghent and Antwerp and 15 km from Rupelmonde, the birthplace of Gerard Mercator.

The venue chosen is the City Museum (SteM), located at 14 Zwijgershoek. The conference will coincide with a large Mercator exhibit in the City Museum, which will be open to conference attendants as part of the social programme. Next-door is located the Mercatormuseum, which houses two original Mercator globes of the heavens and the earth respectively and is Belgiums only museum dedicated solely to cartography.
